Crediting

2 or 4 semester hours per week are credited with 2,5 or 5 CP respectively, if the workload is met and the end-of-term exam is passed (i.e. the grade is 4,0 or higher). Courses and CP are listed on the Transcript of Records in CampusOffice.

The ZFA can issue a certificate of participation without a confirmation of the language level. The workload is identical but no exam has to be taken.

Consequences

  • You are not issued a proof of your language proficiency and thus cannot continue the language on a higher level
  • You will only receive 1,5 CP or 3 CP for a course with 2 or 4 semester hours per week, respectively
  • The course cannot be credited for the optional part of your studies (‚Optionalbereich‘)
  • The type of examination entered into CampusOffice is an ungraded Certificate of Participation. Here, the language level is not confirmed.

The individual examination offices decide about the final accreditation.

Special regulation for students who have to start a semester abroad or return to their home university before the end of the semester

  • You fulfil the 75% attendance requirement, but cannot take part in the final course examinations (including re-writing dates) due to a stay abroad.
  • They fulfil the 75% attendance requirement, but are only at the RUB as part of a stay abroad and leave Germany before the final course examinations.

The ZFA supports international exchanges and therefore offers you after individual counselling the possibility to receive a graded certificate of achievement in reduced form; with 4 SWS: 3 CP, with 2 SWS: 1.5. Please register for this as soon as possible by email to lise.allirand@rub.de.  The further requirements will be clarified in the counselling.

Course certification

As proof for the examination offices please download the Transcript of Records from Campus Office and send it to us as pdf to zfa@rub.de. The signed and stamped ToR will be returned by mail either directly to you or, on request, to the examination office of your faculty (currently only for economics).

UNIcert®‐certificates can be picked up at the front office (SH 2/207). You will receive an email as soon as your certificate is ready.

Students of the Faculty of Economics register directly at the examination office of the faculty. In addition to your matriculation number, please state the semester you are attending the course, the course number and the exact title of the course and ask for recognition of your performance in this course as Studium Generale.
